Starta Volcanoes vs Shield Volcanoes

A shield volcano is a type of volcano built almost entirely of fluidlava flows. They are named so because of their large size and low profile, resembling a warrior's shield. This is caused by the highly fluid lava they erupt, which travel farther than those erupted from more explosive volcanoes
A stratovolcano, also known as a composite volcano, is a tall, concial built up by many layers (strata) of hardened lava, tephra, pumica, and volcanic ash. Unlike shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes are characterized by a steep profile and periodic, explosive eruptions

The Loop Current is a warm ocean current in the Gulf of Mexico that flows northward between Cuba and the Yucatan peninsula, moves north into the Gulf of Mexico, loops west and south before exiting to the east through the Florida Straitsand joining the Gulf Streams. Some oil from the Gull of Mexico spills is most likely to be dragged into strong currents  that's hug Florida coastal areas.Once in the Loop Current, oil can travel south and enter the Gulf Stream, a powerful ocean conveyor belt that carries warm water up the eastern seaboard. The current travels about 50 to 100 miles a day.

plate tectonic

The tectonic plates are composed of two types of lithospere: thicker continental and thin oceanic.Tectonic plates are able to move because the Earth's lithosphere has a higher strength and lower density than the underlying asthenosphere.
